Nile and her small band of loyal midshipmen saved the ship, and Captain Rima might just kill them for it . . . one young officer at a time. No one and nothing on the Aurora is safe anymore, least of all Nile’s explosive secrets or her connection with Domenic, which vibrates between them like a cutlass speared into the deck. When the shifting tide of war suddenly turns Aurora’s backwater outpost into a vital battleground, Nile faces an impossible choice between duty and freedom. In a cascade of violence, gunpowder, and lies, Nile will soon discover who has her back and who wants to stab a dagger in it. To save the ones she loves, Nile may have to sacrifice everything.

Review

I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised at the difference between the first and second book. Quite a bit more action happens in this book. That is all a good thing. Formatting is different and has the little annotations in chapters where things were changing significantly. That was a complaint I had in the first book. I hate when scenes jump or when you're in the middle of an argument in one paragraph and the next its a completely different day.

It has a good flow as well, its borderline an easy read. The reason I say borderline is because I don't necessarily know naval terms so that slowed me down a little. I still liked this one more than the first.
