Dragons. Right. Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales, and sixteen-year old Elena Watkins was no different. Until the night a fairy tale killed her father. Now Elena’s in a new world, and a new school. The cutest guy around may be an evil dragon, a Prince wants Elena’s heart, and a long dead sorcerer may be waking up to kill her. Oh. And the only way Elena’s going to graduate is on the back of a dragon of her own. Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales. Now it’s time for Elena to believe – in herself.
I essentially enjoyed this book, the size was a little intimidating at first. I really didn't think it was going to keep me interested the entire time.
Now granted there were a few parts where it kinda threw me off. Some of the way things were worded didn't really sit well. Some of the lingo didn't really seem to fit with the "time" of the book. Nor have I ever said as a teenager girl or heard another teenage girl call someone a meanie.
I however liked the characters and how they developed along the way. Seeing the little bit of growth in schooling and maturity as time went on.The world building was okay. But it did leave a few gaps in things, in my opinion. There were places where I would have liked more description and places that could have gone without so much detail.
I did give this 4 Stars because it was a good read, I feel like maybe the editor might have dropped the ball a little bit on this one.
