Let's hope that I actually get this out on time! Unlike last week where I completely missed it all.
So I knocked out a few books this week. Which is better than I have been doing lately. I got completely in a book rut. Like nothing could keep my interests long enough to actually like or dislike a book. This week is not the case for that. I think I read four this week. Though not all will I add a review onto this blog. I will review them on Amazon and Goodreads. I will put the link below where you can follow me on both sites.
Which brings me to my next topic. How do you feel about negative reviews? And actually writing the negative reviews. Do you just not write a review or do you do it and try to be constructive about it? That's what I've done this week. And for once I didn't feel completely bad about it. I'll tell you why. I don't know about you, but I always kind of look at reviews before I read a book. Okay, I should say always. If its an author I haven't heard of or that no one I know hasn't heard of. I really dislike it when there are many, many, many glowing reviews for a book. It makes you want to read it more, right? Right. Well...that is the case this week. I paid the .99 for the book (big whoop, I know) and it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. Like I don't think I read the same book that got all these glowing reviews.
This author has a crap ton of books too. All with glowing reviews. I'm not going to name the book or the author, but when you get an ARC you expect there to be errors and mispelled words or words in the wrong context. But this was a published work. It was a final copy. And I mean there were big errors. Missing letters in words (for example "h" where "the" should have been) or where the main characters last name is completely different (in this case, "Snow" is the last name and several times it was changed to "Stone"). I don't feel I'm being picky about it. But you just loose all the momentum that it had going once you start running into those problems. I feel like there is a really great story in it, it just completely got lost in a bunch of fluff and errors.
